La Passion Quilt Update

I’m 50 days into my 100 Days project, finishing my La Passion Quilt, and I’ve made so much progress! I’ve finished the third corner, and have moved onto the last one. I tried to count how many pieces are left, but I lose interest after counting to 100. It shouldn’t be too much longer now. I’ve shifted to manic worrying about how to quilt this monster.

What this project has meant to me is about 1-2 hours each morning spent chatting with my Mom while I sew my hexies together. Then, in the evening after dinner, I sit and baste the ones for the next day. I will definitely be incorporating more handwork into my quilting practice once this project is finished. I find it to be very soothing.

Small daily unit for La Passion Quilt

Some days, I do my minimum – 10 hexies attached to the main quilt. Some days, I do more. On weekends I spend more time on the sofa, or sometimes basting in the car while we explore our new neighborhood.

Oscar is almost always with me when I work on my La Passion Quilt- next to me under the quilt, on my lap under the quilt, or just sprawled out on top of it. If he sees me putting it down for photos he runs over to hop on and enjoy it. I actually love that he seems to enjoy my quilting. Of course, it means the quilt is like 15% dog hair.

I hope you are stitching your heart out! Finishing this quilt is one of my biggest goals for 2021. I’ve been working on it since 2014. I’m going to sit down at some point and count how many different states and countries it has been to. It will be a large number – it has been my travel companion on so many trips!
