100 Days of Passion

I bet you worried this might not be an appropriate post! Never fear, I have as little interest in sharing personal information as you have in reading it. I’m joining Cassandra Beaver, of The (not so) Dramatic Life in her next 100 Days project. While Cassandra is counting down 100 days until the start of QuiltCon and making something that I am sure will be amazing, I will devote the next 100 days to making slow and steady progress on my La Passion quilt.

I’ve been having trouble maintaining focus (over the last 10 years) and I’m so close to having the top completed. I think this next 100 days might do the trick. I’ll share periodic updates here on the blog. I’ll do daily photos on Instagram. Today, I’m going to share photos of the current state of affairs.

Here it is, in two photos, as my front hall is just too small. Poor Jeremy – I worry about his feelings when I inform him that I was wrong, and we actually need to move to a house with a larger front hall.

As you can see, I just have what appears to be a tiny bit of work to finish. Probably around 1,500 pieces. My plan is to add at least 10 hexies to the main piece every day. That should get me close enough to finished that I can maintain my focus and have a complete top sometime in the spring.

If you want to follow along on Instagram, you can find me here. If you want to try the pattern for yourself, check it out at Grit’s shop.

I’ve shared a lot about this project over the years. If you are new here, this is a king sized quilt top made with 1/2″ hexagons. It is 100% hand stitched by me, using a variety of purple, orange and cream batiks. It has been my travel companion on trips all over the world.

Also, please enjoy this photo of my quilt inspectors giving my major lifetime project absolutely zero respect.

Happy Quilting!

  1. That is absolutely stunning! I think your “housemates” are just admiring your work closely. They are anxious for it to go on the bed so they can sleep on it as it smells like you 😉

  2. Hi Jen! Kudos to you for giving this project some attention that it deserves. You are SO close and yet so far from completion. WOW – half-inch hexagon. When it is all complete, I hope you share all the details like how many hexies it took to make it! I can’t even imagine. Yes, a big hall is definitely warranted for this project! A large rotunda would be perfect. ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. So fun. A thousand hexies here will do it. After that you’ll be so close, that the rest will fly in, at least that was my experience. I’ll follow you along the way. Good luck!
