These are quilting tools I’ve acquired over the years that really make my quilting life better. Everything here is something I sincerely enjoy – I wouldn’t recommend something I don’t like.
Many of the links are affiliate links – they are marked with an *. If you purchase through my link I will make a small commission. Thank you!
Karen Kay Buckley’s Perfect Scissors* are just that. I love the serrated blades, and that the cut all the way to the tip of the scissors. Perfect for appliqué and doll making. Also, they come with a little sheath. Safety first!
Bloc Loc Ruler* – I have a set of half square triangles. Pricey, but my HST accuracy is fabulous now.
Tula Pink Snips* – I keep a pair of these in my handwork kit. Not only are they so pretty, they are sharp and quick.
Add a Quarter Ruler* – I enjoy foundation paper piecing from time to time. This helps minimize bulky seams, especially when I’m doing a project with a ton of tiny pieces.
Panasonic Cordless Iron* – I tried this at a shop and HAD TO HAVE IT. I love that I can go wandering over to my longarm without dragging a cord. It isn’t the hottest iron I’ve ever owned, but it is the slickest.
Photography Backdrop Stand* – Great for getting photos of an entire quilt. Easy enough to drag outside and get a shot in natural light.
Olfa Retractable Rotary Cutter* – the blade is only out when I squeeze the handle. No more exposed blades laying around. It also locks shut, so I don’t cut myself when I rummage around in my tote bag.
Tulip Hiroshima Needles* – I enjoy English Paper Piecing. These babies are super sharp and go through fabric (and my finger) like butter.
Thimble Pads* – Handwork is better for me with these than an traditional thimble. They don’t last all that long, but are cheap enough to replace often.
Washi tape* – I use it to mark my rulers, mark straight lines on quilts, and my machine bed. And it’s cute!
Creative Grids Rulers* – the little non-slip bits on the back really help with my cutting accuracy. The 6.5″ x 12.5″ is my favorite size, although I have an embarrassing number of different sizes.
Mylar templates for EPP* – Great accuracy and they last forever. As long as the dog doesn’t chew them.
Desktop Thread Cutter* – I confess – I had this on my desk and disliked it the first time I tried it. I also thought it was silly, as I can usually get the thread into my needle on the first try. Then I used a needle that worked with it, and now this baby lives in my EPP kit. I can thread a needle in a moving car or in low light.
