Color Catcher Quilt

I’m so happy to announce that I have another quilt published in a major quilting magazine! My Color Catcher pattern is in the January/February issue of McCall’s Quilting!

Color Catcher is a quilt I whipped up from my scrap stash. It is a very quick make – with the help of my AccuQuilt Go! I did all of the cutting in just an hour or two. This included pressing the scraps, and making sure I didn’t get too many of any one fabric. I used a basic die that came with my 8″ Qube set. Who says you need complicated piecing to make a stunning quilt?

I’m so happy with how this quilt turned out. The colors are saturated and gorgeous. Plus, I know my stash. Compare my sketch to the actual quilt. This was with zero planning – I simply cut from the colors I had on hand.

I pulled out this gorgeous rainbow wideback from my stash. It works perfectly.

I used Diagonal Plaid from Urban Elementz to quilt it. I’m just so happy with how it turned out.

I like it so much, I’m considering doing a sew along next year. I definitely need to make another one – this didn’t make a dent in the scrap bin.

The January/February issue of McCall’s Quilting should be available at your local craft and book stores on December 1. Or, you can order it here.

In other news, I’m joining Cheryl Sleboda of Muppin.com for the 31 Day Blog Writing Challenge. I’ve been slacking off on the blog lately, and I’m ready to get it back in shape for the new year. Lots of other great bloggers are joining, too.

Happy December!

    1. Thanks, Wendy! I’m going to miss that backing fabric! It’s one of my favorites. Good thing new fabrics are being printed every day.

    1. Thanks! Any You are welcome. I’ve been writing feverishly all night, assuming I’m going to lose it later this month.
