Introducing Beatrice Biscornu

Will you be attending QuiltCon in Atlanta this year? I’ll be there! I’m looking forward to seeing quilting friends in real life for a change! In addition to fooling around with quilty peeps, I’ll also be helping my friend Deb in her booth, and also demonstrating wool appliqué for my new pattern company! I’ve got two new patterns I’m introducing – Beatrice Biscornu and Lorelei Lonestar.

Deb’s booth is Fish Museum and Circus, booth #1420. Hopefully it will be a crazy mob scene and we will sell out all of her amazing pincushions, patterns, and fabrics. She has some awesome patterns and a new fabric line launching – you absolutely must come see them if you will be attending.

I’ll be demonstrating wool appliqué on Saturday, from 2-4 and will have a limited number of Beatrice Biscornu kits available. I also briefly lost my mind and created a mini zine pattern for the Beatrice Biscornu I’m making, which was wildly exciting. I get excited about some odd things, I know. Jeremy told me I desperately need an elementary school aged child, and he’s not wrong. My boys are men now, and not so easily entertained.

Back on topic – If the kits don’t sell out at QuiltCon (please, marketing gods, let them sell out), I will list them in my Etsy shop. If you feel like you MUST HAVE ONE shoot me an email. I’m always ambivalent about selling physical goods, but I don’t want to just tease you.

Biscornu are little and fun, and a great way to get a little taste of wool appliqué without being overwhelmed. Best of all, I used my AccuQuilt to cut the circles out, so you can just stitch and go. No fussing with the templates. Of course, I have provided circle templates in the pattern if you would prefer to use your own wool. You can purchase a pdf copy of the Beatrice Biscornu at our new website, Threadsome Patterns.

Our big project for this series is Lorelei. Lorelei is a lonestar made from wool appliqué. I’ll be sharing more about her soon The pdf pattern is available on the Threadsome website, and I will have some printed versions with me at QuiltCon. In general, you will be able to get digital versions of our patterns at Threadsomepatterns.com, and physical copies and kits at Gotham Quilts, or your local quilt shop. After working on this partnership for almost a year, I’m so excited to finally be able to share!

  1. Hope you have a great time!!! I’m not able to come north to attend this year, but I’ve let my Guild sisters know that you will be there and maybe one of them will say hi from me. Good luck and if I wasn’t allergic to wool, I’d be in touch. Enjoy!!!
