Love & Kisses Blog Tour & Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Love & Kisses Blog Tour! I’m so excited to help Sherry from Powered by Quilting launch her first Signature Line from Island Batik!

I’ve known Sherry since I was a brand-new blogger. We’ve even met up in person, more than once! I’ve really been impressed with the trajectory of her quilting career. She is always working so hard!

All right, on to the fun part. Look at this fabric.

As soon as Sherry showed me the fabric images, I knew I had to make a new version of my Windows to My Heart quilt. I just can’t help but lean into a motif.

Since I started with fat quarters of the collection, I decided to use the 9″ block for this version. I also changed up the original pattern and added sashing between the hearts. What can I say – I can’t even make myself follow my own pattern.

Windows to My Heart with Love & Kisses fabric

I ended up making a small quilt – just one 9″ block of each fabric, with Island Batik white solid for the background. I love the way they look like conversation hearts. The quilt ended up finishing at 42″ x 51″ – a perfect little baby quilt. I like that when you change up the colors from the original, it doesn’t look so “Valentine’s Day”.

If you order the pattern from my Etsy shop, I did make some changes for this version.

  • I only made 20 heart blocks.
  • The background is all one color.
  • A 2″ sashing was added between the blocks.
  • I used a 2″ border around the entire quilt.

These fabrics were so much fun, I even pieced my backing and binding. I just couldn’t stop playing with them. The fuschia is a piece of Island Batik basics – isn’t it amazing? I only have two little pieces left to squirrel away.

The quilting pattern is Breath of the Gods, from Urban Elementz.

The best part of this project is that I only used about half of the fabric I received, so I can share! I have a bundle of 20 – 9″ squares, one each of every pattern in Love & Kisses. To enter, just use the Rafflecopter widget below.
