Quilting Art Exhibit

Happy New Year! I hope you are all enjoying setting new goals. I’m mildly concerned that I’m starting the year on a high note, and it can only go downhill from here.

This week I’ve had one of the most exciting things in my quilting career happen to me. It’s been in planning stages for nine months.

As of yesterday, 15 of my quilts are hanging in an art gallery in my town! The Metuchen Arts Committee invited me to display an exhibit in our lovely Library Gallery, and it will be on display from January 1 – March 31.

I’m thrilled, and rather shocked, that the art community here is taking my quilting so seriously. It is truly overwhelming to see this space filled with my favorite pieces.

We spent two hours hanging the quilts. We could call this exhibit “The Awesome Power of the Binder Clip”. They are used extensively to hang the quilts, and it is brilliant. I can’t wait to solve a problem with binder clips and be a hero in the future.

There are three walls in the gallery open for exhibit, along with a glass case for small items. Alas, my photography skills leave something to be desired.

Atomic Fizz, Trill, and Nazca
Grandmother’s Flower Garden, Portals, Shattered
Color Catcher, Woven Compass, My Blue Hexies, Day on the Water, MOMA with Thomas, Triangulation, Lady Lily, Clam Strips, and Squareburst
Small odds and ends to fill up this glass case

If you are interested in seeing my quilts in person, the gallery is open during library hours. There will also be a reception on January 25th, from 2-4 PM. I’ll be providing refreshments – come say hi!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne! Do you have yours back yet from the MQG exhibit? It looked great when I saw it.

  1. Hi Jen! This is just so thrilling for you. I can only imagine how you feel when you walk in that room and see all your quilts hanging there, being enjoyed and oooh and awww’d over. I would love to visit in person but instead send you big {{{hugs}}}. I hope lots of people attend the reception and share the kudos you deserve. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thanks! I feel shocked, shocked I tell you, when I walk in that room. I haven’t been there when there are visitors yet.

  2. Congratulations on having this exhibition. What a wonderful way to start the new year. From the distance of the western US I’d say they all look lovely. Wishing you a wonderful new year.

  3. I won’t be able to drive down and see it in person but I will be with you in spirit sitting on your shoulder listening to all the oohs and aah’s wish I could be a fly on the wall!

  4. Oh my gosh – how exciting! I hope 2020 brings more great things for you Jen!
