This project is another shop sample for Olde City Quilts, in Burlington, NJ. The pattern is Bento Box by Tracey Brookshier.
Judy selected a Moda Marbles Jellyroll and a tiny paw print fabric called Crafty Cats Paws by Makower. (When I saw that rainbow jelly roll I practically danced out of the store.) The pattern is designed for use with fat quarters, but it worked really well with the jelly roll, too. It came together really quickly. I’m really pleased with it.
I found the perfect backing fabric in my stash. One piece down, a million to go.
It was a little short, but I was able to piece in a few leftover jelly roll strips.
I quilted it simply with freehand loops and bound it with more jellyroll strips. This one took a little longer than I would have liked – it got set to the side when I started quilting some customer quilts. I need to learn better time management skills.
This is the last of my first batch of official shop samples. Judy has another she wants me to make, and I think I have one for Mouse Creek Quilts that should be ready for me get started on soon. I love getting to make fun patterns using someone else’s fabric.
That’s a bright happy quilt. I like the pattern! I think it would be great fun to make quilts using someone else’s fabric!
I love this pattern! It’s on my “some day” list. Lovely!
Bento box is such a fun pattern and it couldn’t be any more fun than this bright, happy quilt.
