Welcome to the MY NYC Blog Hop, celebrating the release of My NYC fabric from Gotham Quilts! I’m so pleased that I am part of the team at Gotham Quilts. It feels good to work with a woman-owned shop in New York City, especially when it is also my favorite quilt shop.
Andrea and Ivete have been hard at work behind the scenes on this project for a looong time. I was excited when I got my first glimpse of the fabric. It’s so cute. I hope you love it as much as I do. I’ve pulled together a team of my favorite bloggers to show off the fabric with their own projects. Please visit all of them this week!

Each of us started with a bundle of 11 fat quarters of My NYC fabric. I added a solid charcoal color to mine – look at how great it all looks!
I decided to make a new version of my Rotation pattern. I really do love how well this pattern works to show off large scale prints. The big flying geese allow the fabric to sing.
One of the things I really love about my pattern is how it handles directional prints. The 4-at-a-time flying geese technique means that you get a flying goose heading in each direction from the original print. If you are a little uptight like I am, you can keep all of your directional prints going the right way.
It’s okay to let your patterns go any which way, too, but I try to keep stuff right side up when I can.
Here is my finished quilt top. It’s on the longarm right now (I’ll be updating the post as soon as the quilt is complete.)
We chose a solid grey for the background. Look at how these prints pop!
Want to get your hands on some My NYC fabric or the Rotation pattern? You can find them at the Gotham Quilts website.
On August 13th we will be having a giveaway over on Instagram. I’ll share more about it later this week.
Don’t forget to visit Becca at Sugar Sand Quilt Co. today! I can’t wait to see what she made.
This is a good pattern for highlighting the fabric, and the dark background really makes them pop.
It’s great to have some typical NYC fabrics that are not garish, I think they’ve done a great job.
Thanks, Carolyn! I really like the collection, too.
Wonderful version of your Rotation quilt. I love the fabrics and what fun hop this will be!
A great pattern to show off this collection! The colors are right up my alley.
Love the fabric!! My kind of colors for quilts. I am trying to decide what quilt pattern I am going to use it on. Thankfully have lots to finish before I start on it.
I love that the large pieces really show off the fun prints! The dark gray is the perfect compliment, too.
