AccuQuilt has just released the most adorable mini Christmas stocking die. I was happy to test it out for them, and I decided to collaborate with my in-house sashiko master to make some sashiko mini stockings to use as gift tags. This was a great little project – each tag took about 20 minutes to assemble.
As my kids have gotten older (25 and 20!), I have lost some of my holiday spirit. That has led to a more relaxed approach to gift wrapping and presentation. My husband loves to pay Amazon to wrap his gifts, and over the years we have accumulated a large supply of gift bags. I have kept them all. Handily, they all come with tags attached. Sometimes we get lucky and find a tag for the right person attached to a bag that works size-wise. Other times this happens. We laugh. Reduce, reuse, recycle is a big thing in this house. (Also, laziness).
I’ve been thinking about making reusable gift tags for a while, and this mini stocking die is perfection. Mom was kind enough to make some sashiko panels to my specifications. I took care of the rest.

Can you believe I’ve already started my holiday preparations? Neither can I.
Mom and I also made a full-size stocking using the Santa Stocking Die, using the same technique. I’m infatuated. I might just stitch my own name onto this one.
154 days until Christmas!
I also made stockings using prints from Blank Quilting recently. Did you see them?
As always, thank you to AccuQuilt for being such a great business partner. I always enjoy making projects with this system.
