I’m so excited to share this latest project with you! I am a member of Stacie Bloomfield’s Creative Powerhouse membership. Stacie encourages and informs us on how to turn our artwork into sellable products. Also, licensing artwork, but I’m not quite there yet. Well, my first product is my new Dizzy Quilter Needle Minder.
At first, Creative Powerhouse didn’t seem like a perfect fit to me – quilting artwork isn’t really the same as drawing or painting. I can’t really just take photos of my quilts and have them printed on stuff. Or can I? It took a while to really think of some products that will compliment my existing pattern design business. I enjoy the sparkle of enamel pins, but I’m not a fan of purely decorative stuff. Needle minders marry my love of that shine with utility. Plus, if wear them like a pin, they won’t put a hole in your shirt. Oh, and I love Stacie and her classes and membership. If you are ever feeling down, spend some time with her. She is very energizing.
I designed my needle minders to celebrate the finish of my La Passion top, but I changed the colors to match my new logo -branding matters.
For me, needle minders are like Pringles – you can’t have just one. I have some in my various little project cases, to make sure the needle doesn’t fall out when I open the project. It is also very handy to clip it onto my shirt when I’m working. The needle sticks right to my chest and keeps me safe. I am super paranoid about Oscar getting a stuck or eating a needle. They are also great on hooped projects, like embroidery or cross stitch.
Would you like your very own Dizzy Quilter Needle Minder? You can find them in my Etsy shop.
Smart idea and it looks wonderful!
I LOVE it!!! Ordered two, one for my chair sewing and one for my travel sewing. Well done, Jen.
Neat! In terms of items that are photos of quilts, there is a fiber artist in my area who sells notecards that are photos of her art quilts. She did a presentation to my guild a few months ago.
That is such a clever idea. Congrats.
Thanks, Denise!
