Hooray! Today is the day – my Missed Connections pattern is available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

I’ve been hard at work preparing a downloadable pattern and testing it by making another version of my quilt, this time in black and white, with just a pop of red for fun.
The Missed Connections pattern was designed to work with 10″ precuts. The main version is a throw, and finishes at 51″ x 59″, perfect for sofa naps. I’ve also included fabric requirements and layouts for crib and twin sizes. The Twin uses 80 squares – if you use two layer cakes, your four leftover pieces would make a matching throw pillow (but I haven’t written up pillow finishing instructions yet.)

My black and white version is so stunning. I couldn’t stick with just two colors, and I didn’t even really try. I planned on one red square all along, and I ended up quilting it with red thread, too. With the modern quilting pattern (Retro Lines by Urban Elementz), it reminds me of Chutes and Ladders.

Fabrics for this version and the original were provided by Island Batik. Batiks are great for this kind of improv – their tight weave means they don’t stretch out of shape as much along the bias edges. I love that they have a line of solids for me to play with, too.
Batting is by Hobbs – I used up almost all of my black batting scraps this time. The black batting seems to intensify the richness of the black fabric, doesn’t it?
The pattern is available for $10 until October 1, when it will go up to $12.

Happy Quilting!
Love the black and white version! It was such a fun project.
Congratulations on the pattern release, and the black, white, and pop of red version is lovely!
Good luck with your pattern! I love both versions of it, but maybe the BW and red is my favorite, but only maybe.
You must be very pleased with yourself. Stunning work. I especially like the black and white version
