I’m having a little bit of an anxiety attack right now. My chair is finished, and I’m headed out to deliver it in a few minutes. (It isn’t even due until Friday, but I can’t take the stress anymore.) I’m worried that it was a stupid idea, that it looks stupid, and that it will fall apart.
It looks pretty good. The staples are showing on the edges, but I think they are acceptable. I couldn’t think of anything to cover them with other than gluing ribbon on, and that seemed excessive for outdoor furniture.
I’m not a master furniture builder, so there are some aspects of the chair that aren’t quite right, but I think it is acceptable. I sat in it, and it is pretty comfy. I’m a hefty girl, and it didn’t collapse under me, either. Victory!
I’m off! See you in a bit.
I think the po-po heard I was up to something, because they shut the road down. However, I had teenager power and made him carry the chair down the street. Isn’t he a happy looking child? I’m sure he will be hitting me up for $10 when he thinks of it.
Here is the chair, ensconced in front of Mangia Toscana, a new restaurant that opened this year. Stop by if you have a chance – their pizza is great, and the bombolini look like it will take a year off of my life.
I made a matching throw pillow, because I’m extra. I’m still a little bummed that I gave up on the cup holder plan. Oh, well.
Here is a photo of me next to my creation. Nice, right? I’m glad I thought to take a shower and change my clothes this morning. Thanks to Linda La Stella of Earthsongs for the photo.
And finally, my muse posed for me. Oscar probably won’t get another shot at the chair, so we did a quick front yard pose before delivery.
Thanks for reading! I’m off to play, I mean, work. This project was sponsored by the Metuchen Downtown Alliance, as part of their Language Project. The kickoff party is Friday, June 28th at 7PM in Imagination Alley, and all are welcome. I’m so pleased to be part of this community.
It turned out great!
Hi Jen! I think this chair turned out great. You had a vision, you put together a concept and plan and then implemented it in style. Sweet! I can honestly say I’ve never seen a comfy Adirondack chair, but I would totally sit in yours. Really nice job. It does what it was designed to do by selling the city. And Oscar – well, he’s the icing on the cake. ~smile~ Roseanne
This really turned out well! I would never tackle such a project but you made it work – so awesome! I love that your muse was able to get a picture on your newest creation. Great great job!
Wow that looks amazing! Way beyond my skill level. Great job.
Bravo, Jen! It looks great! It’s been so fun to follow your progress through this. Leading a relatively sheltered life (apparently), I have no idea what bombolini is, but I’m curious (and it sounds delicious, if it’s something to eat). Oscar looks quite proud of your accomplishment and, yes, I think the kid will be waiting for some type of reward 😉 PS, I love your shirt and you look great in the pic! Well done!
Totally, completely awesome!
Jen, it turned out great! I especially love the front of the chair, very well placed wording. Your ideas and sharing is so inspiring. Thanks so much!!!
Truly awesome. Congratulations on a job well done
That turned out great and I LOVE the idea of it! Heck…now I want a customized chair in my yard!
This is just too much fun!!!!!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun.
