The Island Batik Challenge for October is Needle, Paper, Scissors. I made this cute little pumpkin mini quilt to decorate my kitchen.
This has been a busy month, so I chose a simple project to show off my holiday spirit.
I used Electric Quilter 7 to generate a foundation paper pieced pumpkin block pattern. Then I dug through my Island Batik stash and pulled out my oranges.
Piecing was fast on this project. I layered with Hobbs batting, and quilted it with Guterman thread on my Bernina.
Wouldn’t this block look great set on point, in the center of a braided table runner? Maybe next year.
Thanks to Island Batik for the awesome fabric. They are all just so pretty.
Hi Jen! Love this pumpkin and if it wasn’t a paper pieced block I would be tempted to make one. Maybe next year! ~smile~ Roseanne
That’s a fun little block that could be used so many fun ways!
Pretty pumpkin!
I love the curved lines and leaves you added in the quilting.
Thanks, Yvonne! I was trying to make it look a little less geometric.
This is so cute, Jen!!! And it would look great in a braided table runner. Love the quilting.
A fun little quilt.
What a festive fall block!!
What a fun little block! I love the quilting – the leaves and tendrils are perfect as well as the curved lines to make it look like a real pumpkin.
What fun!!!!
Great pumpkin block – love the zigzag contouring combined with the curved quilting.
Your pumpkin is gorgeous! Very original – I would love to make one – can you share the pattern?
