Here is my version of Pattern by Jen‘s block for February. Isn’t it lovely? I’m doing the 6″ version. I plan to make a donation quilt for my guild when I’m finished.
It is entirely half square triangles (hst), so a good piece to practice accuracy in construction. I used my Bloc Loc ruler to square up the triangles. It is a great tool, and since I’ve started using it my hst blocks are much more accurate.
I also used a new fun toy to lay the block out. This one is complicated, and sometimes I struggle with keeping the pieces arranged until I get to my sewing machine. The FabGrab board was sent to me by the company to try out. I’ll be doing a more detailed post next month, but I couldn’t resist trying it out. I’m sold. The felt layer is far superior to my previous tool – a large ruler. No more sliding squares.
Here are my two blocks together. I’m starting to get excited. I want to zip through and finish them all. I have a love/hate with BOM programs. Once I get started I find it hard to wait again.
Next week I’ll be sharing my version of Sherry’s block. Stay tuned! I’m working my way up to Dione’s adorable bears, which will require fancy stitches that my sewing machine can’t do until I get a tune-up.
If you haven’t checked out all of my fellow bloggers yet, spend a few minutes and check them out. They do beautiful work.
Here are all of my blocks so far. I can’t wait for the display to be more impressive.
Don’t forget, the linkup will open on February 21st. You will have a week to get your blue project for the month up in order to be entered to win a $25 gift card to Fat Quarter Shop.
Great job! I totally agree about the Bloc Loc rulers, they make HSTs a breeze!
Very cute block! Have a fun day!!
They all look great together. In fact, I keep getting tempted but am gonna hold that thought.
Oh wow! Love the little stars in the blue block!!! Well done. Your blocks are great.
Thanks, Dawn!
Beautiful!
