Trunk shows
I charge $300 for a 1 hour trunk show, which includes a 45 minutes presentation, followed by a Q&A period.
Quilting Lessons I have Learned
30+ quilts, from the first top I pieced as a teen to some of my most recent work. I discuss my family history, as well as influences in my quilting career.
This show can be customized to fill the time needs of your group. I do not need any special equipment – although I do appreciate an extra pair of hands to help hold quilts as I discuss them.
Folded Improv – Kawandi Quilting
Discussion of the traditions of Kawandi Quilting in India, along with samples of Indian Kawandi. Then we I’ll talk about my introduction into Kawandi, and what make it so special to me. I will have about a dozen Kawandi I have made myself. I’ll talk about what Kawandi has done for me, and how I use my experience to give back to the community that has inspired me.
AccuQuilt – Thinking Outside the Box
My journey as an AccuQuilt Go Getter. 20+ quilts. I’ll talk about being both a brand ambassador and a designer for newly released dies. I’ll talk about how I went from believing that I didn’t need an AccuQuilt to rarely making a project without one. I’ll also discuss how having a limited number of shapes doesn’t inhibit my creativity.
Workshops
Workshops can be customized for each venue, and can be taught in person or virtually. I charge $100 per hour, and I suggest a 4 hour minimum, 6 hour maximum. I will accept up to 20 students per session. I am willing to travel, but travel expenses must be covered.
Folded Improv – Kawandi Style Quilting
Learn about the African/West Indian tradition of Kawandi quilting. I provide a short presentation on the tradition of Kawandi quilting, and provide a list of resources for further exploration. During this class we work on an entirely hand-made mini quilt, working from the outside in to the middle.
Folded Improv by Machine
Tempted by Kawandi style quilting, but not interested in hand work? Let’s bring this technique into the 21st century with our sewing machines! Blast through a pile of precious scraps and make a baby quilt in a single afternoon. We will use my favorite parts of kawandi making – no piecing, quiltng from the outside in, but skip the slow stitching.
Scrappy Rainbows
Featuring Color Catcher, As seen in McCalls Quilting, Jan 2020.
Have tons of fun with this beginner friendly scrap buster. I use an AccuQuilt Go! to make mine. I will discuss using an AccuQuilt, and also give standard cutting directions.
Improv with a framework
Explore improv piecing with a little bit of structure. We will work with a gradated bundle of eight fat quarters ranging from light to dark, combined with a color that pops. One of my favorite quilts.
Partial Seams
We will work with my Rotation quilt pattern to learn how to use partial seams in quilt blocks. Bring your favorite bundle of fat quarters and we will make a gorgeous quilt with (almost) no wasted fabric. Suitable for adventurous beginners.
Quilt Binding by Machine
Bring your favorite quilted UFO and get it finished! We will prepare and apply binding entirely by machine. I will go over binding preparation, trimming the top, attaching to the front, mitered corners, invisible joins, and attaching to the back.
Simple Improv
Featuring my Missed Connections pattern. Take your first step into improv quilts. We will begin with a pre-cut bundle of 10″ squares and a contrasting piece of yardage. Experiment with slashing and design layout to come up with a project that is uniquely yours.
