**Update. My class did not sell enough seats, so it has been removed from the schedule. It’s a little anti-climactic, but sometimes things don’t go the way I planned. Hopefully I’ll have some in-person classes listed again soon. At a different venue.
I am so excited to share my big news! I’ll be teaching two sessions of Kawandi Style Quilting at Stitchfest in Milwaukee! Come play with me on May 26th and 27th.
StitchFest Milwaukee is a new Maker festival, featuring classes, demonstrations, and a marketplace. Classes include sewing, quilting, jewelry making and the yarn arts. StitchFest is put on by Golden Peak Media – the same group that publishes Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting, McCall’s Quilting and several other magazines.
I will be leading two workshops, both inspired by Kawandi quilting traditions. The first is my usual Kawandi Style Quilting. This is a hand stitching workshop and I will lead students in making a small Kawandi project. The second workshop is Kawandi style quilting by machine. I’m so excited for this one – it will be my first time teaching this technique!
One thing I’m really excited about is that I will be offering Kawandi Kits to my students. I’ll be curating bundles of my favorite fabrics for my students to play with. I’ve also got an assortment of batting samples for people to play with, so my usual answer of “try it” won’t be so frustrating. Students will be able to try a variety of fabrics and see what they prefer. Kits will have everything needed for class, including fabric, batting, and a thimble, a needle and thread.
I’ve been teaching kawandi virtually for the past year or so, and I have had so much fun. Teaching quilting is my favorite way to spend a day. Thank you to all of my followers who have taken a class with me! I love you all.
If you are in the Milwaukee area, I hope you will consider coming to spend the day with me. I can’t wait to share my love of slow stitching with a new group of makers. If you aren’t in the area, would you do me a huge favor and share this post with any friends who might be there? Thanks!
Wonderful news! At the New England Quilt Expo…same venue we met at in 2018 or 2019 at MQX. One of the women I talked to took your Kwandi class and thoroughly enjoyed it.
