Announcing the 2022 Accuquilt BOB Sampler Sew Along

As you know, I am infatuated with my Accuquilt cutting system. In the past few years I have amassed a large collection of BOB dies. Most of them have been used just once, to make a quilt to showcase the die. These dies are a significant investment, and I need them to be used more than once to feel good about the investment. I also tend to get bored with quilts that have lots of a single block. Inspiration struck – I realized that I had to have a 2022 Accuquilt BOB Sampler Sew Along.

To make sure my idea would work, I put together a small sampler that I’m sharing on the Accuquilt blog today. I’m so happy with the way it turned out! I used a combination of Island Batik scraps and some neutral blenders from my stash. I went with a blue/teal plus lime green for my focus fabrics, and neutrals for the background. It’s on my longarm right now, getting some simple straight line quilting.

In this top, I used Schoolhouse, Glorified Nine Patch, Drunkard’s Path 3 1/2″, Starry Path, Log Cabin, Tangled Star, Ohio Star, Robbing Peter to Pay Paul and Flying Geese.

A BOB is a Block On Board die. One die board has all the shapes you need to make a complicated quilt block. They are some of my favorite dies. They can also be some of the most complicated ones to piece, so I will be sharing some different tricks and tips all year long. To kick it off, I’ve got a video demonstrating how I mark my dies for ease of working.

If you are interested in sewing along, please sign up for my newsletter. I’ll be sending out information on which die I’m using each month, along with links to blog posts and video tutorials. You can also follow me on Instagram – I’m sure I’ll be over-sharing.

I’ll be posting more information on Monday, including my inspirations, suggestions on fabric choices and what dies I’ll be using for the first couple of blocks.

  1. Fun sew along and great hints on marking your BOBs with the fabric required. I have done it on the sides of the dies, but (head slap) I could have done it on the front and will when I pull them out.
