Hi, Guys! I feel like I have been neglecting the blog lately. I meant to type up a bunch of posts while I was in Florida, but I ended up spending my time walking with Oscar, fooling around in my sketchbook, and learning new embroidery stitches. Not a bad way to spend two weeks. We also learned that my husband is allergic to no-see-ums, and spent time in the urgent care. I’m not allowed to tell him he just has to stop scratching anymore.
I’ve got a post up on the Accuquilt blog today. I made this adorable rainbow quilt using the Schoolhouse die. I just love the Block on Board dies from Accuquilt. One die has all the pieces you need to make a block. I love all of my dies, but I especially enjoy being able to just use one to make a whole quilt. I create in chaos, so often, if I put something down, it disappears.
The schoolhouse block comes together so quickly. I’m really astonished at how fast I put this quilt together. I sew quickly, but I think this whole thing came together with about 5 hours of work. I did utilize all of my tools – the Accuquilt Go Big, Bernina 570, and the Bernina Q-24 with QMatic were key to my speed.
I hope you enjoy the post over on the Accuquilt blog. I’m working feverishly on some new projects, along with big plans for next year. I’ll share more soon – I don’t mean to be a tease. Have a wonderful holiday season. I’ve got to stop sewing at some point and go decorate. The downside of a post-Thanksgiving vacation is the lack of time to decorate.
I like how the negative space in the block creates a fun 3D shape that can change sides (remember the seeing eye posters?). Happy Holidays!
Wonderful job on this! The Q24 has to be soooo awesome for quilting. I love my HQ but the Bernina is an awesome machine.
This quilt is so lovely! Well done.
