Hooray! It’s my day to share on the Accuquilt Go Getters Blog Hop! As you know, I am a huge fan of Accuquilt and their products. They are great to work with. The blog hop challenge was to create a quick and easy holiday project. Today I’m excited to share my project with you, and then send you off to visit my fellow Go Getters.
For my quick and easy project, I chose a rice bag. My Mom introduced me to them, and they are one of my favorite projects. Construction is pretty easy to understand, even for this three-dimensionally challenged quilter. I think these bags make fantastic gifts.
My bag is designed to carry a 6″ craft box I use to corral my supplies. The box is great for containing small tools and thread spools, and keeping things tidy. I can fit so much stuff in the bag along with my supplies.
I made 4 different pieced blocks, using my 8″ Qube die set. Accuquilt prepared a lovely downloadable pdf pattern for you to make your very own rice bag. You can find it here.
I used Coco fabrics from Michael Miller for this project. These are some of the leftovers from a secret sewing project. I will share with you soon.
Check out my fellow Accuquilt Go Getters. They have all put together small holiday projects for you.

Can you tell us why it’s called a rice bag?
Sure! A rice bag is a traditional Japanese bag meant to carry rice. At least, that is my understanding. I forget that not everyone goes through an intense phase of studying everything about Asia in school.
