I have decided to join Yvonne Fuchs, aka Quilting Jetgirl on a quilting adventure. You can see her original quilt here.
I have been stewing over fabric selection for a week. Obviously, I have plenty in my stash, but I just don’t have enough of anything for one solid background. If I’m buying one fabric, I may as well buy them all, right? My new living room has a grey sofa, and hints of aqua in the kitchen, so I am going to use that as my color inspiration.
I ordered my fabrics from Fat Quarter Shop, one of Yvonne’s sponsors. Here is my shopping cart – I can’t wait for my order to arrive. I chose to use the Michael Miller Cotton Couture collection that Yvonne is using. I went with Graphite for the background, Turquoise for the center section, and Aqua for the small squares.
I may tone it down a bit and move the aqua to the middle color and choose a lighter shade for that position. I’m not sure. I am also considering finding some aqua prints to sneak into the corners, but I may try to control my scrappy urges. Making a whole quilt top with just three fabrics might kill me.
I ordered some Tula Pink for the backing because, why not. Look at how perfect it is!
I can’t wait for the fabrics to arrive, so I can start fondling them.
Oh that Tula Pink is perfect! Great find. I’m excited to see this come together.
The Tula Pink fabric for the backing is really perfect! I personally really like your fabric selections and am excited to see them turn into a quilt. Thanks for joining along. 🙂
Lovely colors, but I’m with you. Using just three would be a big challenge for me! Love, love that backing fabric. And Tula, of course! The backing is scrumptious. Happy petting when that fabric arrives!
Using just three fabrics in a quilt is a bit of a stretch for me as well. It will be good for us l.o.l.
Love your fabric choices!
