I’m an Island Batik Ambassador (Again!)

I am so excited to announce that once again, Island Batik has selected me to be one of their brand ambassadors. I received my box of fabrics last month. I about lost my mind watching FedEx drag my box across the country.

The way it works is, you get a shipping confirmation from Island Batik, along with a tracking number. The ambassador group on Facebook lights up with all of us going crazy, keeping track of our boxes hour by hour. We have one ambassador who lives in the same town as the warehouse. Her posts spark a lot of excitement every year.

My mom has been here twice when boxes are on the way. She can tell you that I become a bit of a pain in the behind, tracking FedEx, looking out the window, speculating on what can be included in a 24 lb box.

I filmed the opening of my box for you. It is probably a lot more fun for me than it is for you – my apologies.

My haul included:

Caribbean Breeze 10″ squares, plus 2 yards each of coordinating fabrics. (The Aurifil thread here was from a separate purchase.)
Eight cuts of Basics
Ten!! Stash Builder Bundles (Read to the end to see how you can win one!)
Two yards of beautiful rayon. Does anyone have a fool-proof clothing project?
Five spools of Aurifil Thread in various weights.
Five yards of Whip Cream Neutral
3 yards each of grey, white, and black solids
5 Hobbs Battings (one has already been sacrificed to the quilting gods.)

The biggest surprise this year was the second box. I received an Accuquilt Ready, Set, Go! cutting system. It includes a Go! fabric cutter, a 2 1/2″ strip cutting die, an 8″ Qube mix and match die set, and a book by Eleanor Burns.

AccuQuilt Go! Ultimate Cutting System

I spent a lot of time looking at cutting systems last year. I was beyond thrilled to find out that I would be receiving one as part of the Island Batik Ambassador program this year. This box actually arrived first, and I shrieked and ripped it open immediately. I’m pretty sure all the dogs in the neighborhood started barking.

I’ve been using it already – be prepared to get tired of hearing about my awesome new toy. I love the accuracy of the cutting. I’m a stickler, and this takes one variable out of my hands. I’ve already bought my first extra die – Rob Peter to Pay Paul. Not having to cut the curves is amazing. I will share that project in March.

Thank you so much to Island Batik, Aurifil Thread, and Hobbs Batting for supporting my creativity this year.

Be sure to check out my fellow ambassadors this year! This is a talented group of quilters. I can’t believe I have snuck in twice!

  1. Your Island Batiks projects are in my top projects to follow. Can’t wait to see what you make with these!!!! Thanks so much for sharing with us and being willing to do this.

    1. I was thrilled with my buttons. I’ll be wearing them proudly. Are you going to MQX again? I’ll be there.

  2. So glad you’re an Ambassador again. I love your projects and look forward to seeing them all. I purchased the Accuquilt system 2 years ago and I’ve never looked back. I love the accuracy, the speed to cut out my project and the relief for my hands from rotary cutting. Can’t wait to see what this year brings with your creativity!
