Want to be a Better Quilt Blogger?

Registration for the 2028 NQBBH opens today!

Registration for the 2028 NQBBH opens today! The New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop is right around the corner.  If you are a new quilt blogger, you owe it to yourself to sign up and participate as much as you possibly can.  I joined a few months after launching Dizzy Quilter, and I know it made a big difference for me.  I met a lot of very supportive bloggers, and I think it has really impacted the way I run my business.
When I started Dizzy Quilter I was looking for something new.  I rarely interacted with other quilters.  I stalked a few online, but that was about it.  I was a little intimidated by the bloggers I followed – they had published patterns, were in magazines, and had fabric and thread sponsors.  They had turned their hobbies into businesses, which I thought was amazing, and I wanted in.
When I saw the blog hop announced in 2016 I decided to give it a try.  I had met one of the hosts by chance at a quilt shop in Texas.  She had been so sweet, and I felt comfortable participating in something Stephanie was a part of.
My fellow bloggers helped me focus on my photography – clean, clear photos are more important than I had realized.  Having a consistent style is important, too.  And the number one thing that was drilled into me was to post frequently.  All of these things and more have helped turn my blog into something I really enjoy.  And, it is turning into and important part of my quilting business.
I’ll be honest here.  When I first started I thought you start a blog, put ads on it, and money just flows in with no real effort.  I’m embarrassed at how stupid it sounds now.  That is definitely not how it works, especially in a niche market like quilting.  My blog can help me build a business, but by itself it does not make me money.  It gives me a community, allows me to seek out interesting partnerships, and gives me some credibility in the industry, and those things are so important to me.  But, it doesn’t happen by itself.  I spend time every day planning, writing, taking photos, and interacting with my readers.
If you are planning to sign up for the hop, do it now.  If you are thinking that maybe it would be fun, sign up!  You can devote as much or as little time as you want, but the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.  Registration closes February 28th, and it is going to come and go in the blink of an eye.
You can check out the details here.
You can sign up using this form.  Please do!

And if you don’t trust me, visit my Co-hosts and see how cool they are.   Beth @CookingUpQuiltsTish @Tishn’Wonderland, and Sandra @mmm! Quilts all have wonderful blogs and are fun to work with.
Did I mention we have sponsors?  Sponsors mean we have prizes!

  2. Hi Jennifer! This is my first time to your site and am so impressed! It is always fun to meet fellow quilters:). —I registered for the New Quilt Bloggers Blog hop on the first day it opened. (I’m so excited about it, can you tell?). I am just wondering when the introductions are going to be starting? I am going on a vacation and don’t want to miss them.
