Tea Cozy for Heather

My friend Heather and I did a craft swap this year.  She made me these amazing fingerless gloves, because my hands get cold when I hand stitch or use the computer.  This isn’t a great photo – they are a fabulous purple color.

I made her this tea cozy.  I used a pattern and tutorial from Sew4Home.  Heather has a red, black & white kitchen.  There is a pocket behind the teapot appliqué.  I found the sweetest crocheted trim to edge it with.
IMG_3194I didn’t have enough trim to do the back, so I used a decorative stitch on my machine to add hearts along the seams.

This came together very easily, and it only took me a few hours.  Of course, I over-purchased fabric for it, so now I have a bunch of red and white prints to add to the stash.  I’m ready for a Valentine’s day project.
It took me a bit longer than I had planned to get to this project.  Sorry, Heather.  I fear sewing things that aren’t flat.  I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around the 3-D stuff, so it takes me forever to get to them.
Do you have any long-term projects you are putting off finishing?  What are you waiting for?  Getting rid of those nagging voices in my head feels so good.

  1. Wonderful gift for a friend. I have many….one is a Petal Play project of a loon. I am waiting to be with the project for more than 2 days at a time, its at our “retirement” house. You have inspired me to peek at it as it is on my UFO list this year (carry over from last year)
